Pray This Marriage Difficulty Prayer With Me…

Some of you may be asking God why we have to go through certain situations in our marriages. We get so caught up in the “why” and the “…but how long” of our situation that we forget that we need to give our burdens over to the Lord and just trust Him. God will allow many events to come into our lives, some good and some bad, some that make sense and some that never will, but every one of those incidents in our lives serve as a part of his plan and purpose for us. God can take any trial you face and use that situation for His glory.

I want to remind you that when you decided to live for God you also decided that you would allow him to use you and the situations in your life for His purpose. As God’s children, we know that every event that happens to us first goes through his screen of protection. He promised NEVER to give us more than we could handle (1 Corinthians 10:13). For that reason we can rejoice and be glad in the face of adversity (Romans 5:3). We have assurance that God is working in our lives. The work He is doing is ultimately strengthening and developing our character. Be comforted in the fact that despite our trials, he will NEVER leave us (Hebrews 13:5). God wants us to rely on Him for our strength. Right now there are marriages under Satan’s attack, but I want you to remember that God is in control of every situation. Because He asks us to trust Him, we don’t have to worry ourselves with the whys, the how longs, the why us…I implore you to, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Right now there couples all over the world that are going through some awful things in their marriages. I get direct message tweets, e-mails, Facebook messages and comments on this blog from my readers and followers asking me to pray for their marriages. I want you to know that I am praying and I hope you are praying too. I found this awesome prayer over at Prayer For Marriage that I want to share with you today. Pray this prayer with me:

Heavenly Father:

Be merciful upon these couples and all who have marriage difficulties. Please help those whose marriages are faltering because of illness, unemployment and stress. Please help those whose marriages are failing due to lack of communication, or due to infidelity. We ask Your powerful help for these couples and their families. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help them resolve their issues. Please help families to flourish in love and unity and with gospel values. Please heal those families suffering as consequence of marriage break-up. Please give them healing and please give them courage and comfort.

Help those who are in danger of deciding to leave a marriage. Help them to put aside the prevalent belief gained in media, books, magazines and movies that ‘falling out of love” means the end of a relationship. Instead it challenges couples to live according to what Jesus teaches about love. Help them to become aware the God never commanded that we ‘fall in love,” He only repeatedly tells us to love God above all and to love others as ourselves, faithfully and genuinely even in times of sadness and difficulty.

Lord, I lift up all hurting marriages to you. Father, marriage and our spouses are gifts from you. I pray that you will touch all of our hearts and bring us closer to you. Bring our spouses close to you. Restore our marriages so that we may be one as you have shown us in your word.

O God, grant us this prayer for marriage difficulties through your son Jesus Christ our Lord.

– Amen

Love it. I remember I was at that place and I decided to “let go and let God” and never looked back. This year will mark my 9th year of marriage. And I thank Him for that every day.
